UNL Forensic Science Graduate Lands Position at Nebraska State Patrol Crime Lab

UNL Forensic Science - Jackie Humrich

On June 25th 2018, Jackie Humrich started her new position as a Forensic Scientist in the DNA database (CODIS) section of the Nebraska State Patrol Crime Laboratory.  Humrich, a December 2017 graduate of the UNL Forensic Science Program, is the first Forensic Science student from UNL to get a job at this competitive local laboratory.

At UNL, Jackie completed the Forensic Biology option of her degree, which is designed to prepare students to become experts in the human body at the molecular level with an emphasis on genetics and DNA evidence.  She also worked with faculty member Sgt. Larry Barksdale on a UCARE research project that culminated in a publication.  Their research examined the frequency of dog and cat hair in motor vehicles and its implications as valid evidence.  See Barksdale and Humrich's published work here
